Animation Production Sprint

Move from animatic into the meat of the project. This is the first serious animation week.

Discord Google Drive Signature Brief

Production Week

Your boards, styleframes, tests, and animatic are the blueprint. This week is about building real scenes, solving the biggest animation problems, and getting the project out of the planning phase.

Lane-Specific Production Focus

Lane 1: Brand Motion System

  • Build the master brand spot first.
  • Animate the logo/identity reveal and primary type system.
  • Create reusable precomps for repeated brand elements.
  • Start at least one supporting asset from the same system.

Lane 2: Story / Explainer Film

  • Build the full timeline from hook to final takeaway.
  • Animate the hardest explanation sequence early.
  • Lock captions, labels, diagrams, and visual hierarchy.
  • Make sure the viewer can follow the idea without you explaining it in person.

Lane 3: Culture / Entertainment Package

  • Build the strongest opening and title/payoff moments.
  • Lock music, pacing, and beat structure.
  • Animate the signature transition or effect that defines the piece.
  • Start one promo/social asset using the same entertainment system.

Animation Priorities

  • Build the main compositions and project structure.
  • Animate the opening section and at least one major middle section.
  • Replace rough animatic timing with real motion.
  • Keep exports happening so you can judge pacing.

System Priorities

  • Lock type styles, color, texture, and visual rules.
  • Create reusable precomps or templates for repeated elements.
  • Build supporting assets as you go, not at the last minute.
  • Keep files named and organized.
⚠️ Avoid the Pretty Trap

Do not spend the entire week polishing the first 10 seconds. Get the structure moving across the full project first. Polish becomes useful after the whole piece exists.

Week 10 Checklist

  • AE project structured: Comps, assets, renders, and source files are organized.
  • Main animation started: The piece has moved beyond animatic.
  • Hardest scene tackled: You are not saving the scariest part for later.
  • Current render exported: You have a progress video to review.
  • Supporting assets started: Cuttedowns or system pieces are not ignored.
  • Questions identified: Know what feedback you need next week.
